Hublot unveils its first seven new releases for 2025
Hublot wowed us with seven new interpretations of its most iconic watch, the Big Bang.
This year’s LVMH Watch Week was a little different than we had planned, but you can still expect to see some incredible watches unveiled as the industry welcomes the first of many big moments to be released this year.
Yesterday, Hublot unveiled its first seven new releases for 2025, celebrating with a bang at the Moët Hennessy Library at the World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan.
Spirit of Big Bang Chronograph Ceramic Limited Edition Watch Among the new releases, we have a ton of new interpretations of the classics of the brand’s most iconic collection: the Big Bang. First up, let’s take a look at the latest iteration of the Spirit of Big Bang Chronograph.
The Spirit of Big Bang watch is an evolution of Hublot’s beloved Big Bang watch from more than a decade ago (2014). While the collection retains some features of the original, the most striking thing is its redesigned case shape, which swaps out the instantly recognizable octagonal design of the original Big Bang watch for a tonneau-shaped design.
However, the Spirit of Big Bang retains some of the iconic elements of the traditional Big Bang, such as the sandwich case construction, H-shaped screws, and skeletonized elements, giving it the same essence (or spirit, hence the name), but with a whole new personality thanks to its square rather than round proportions.
Over the past eleven years, Hublot has continued to evolve the Spirit of Big Bang collection, from complication iterations to the tourbillon to artist collaborations like the Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu. In the latest introduction to the collection, we get three gorgeous new colorways, all made from lightweight ceramic, the first time we've seen the material used in the popular collection.
Each of the three striking new hues - Sand Beige, Dark Green, and Sky Blue - is limited to 200 pieces and features a scratch-resistant ceramic construction and a black rubber strap with inlays that match the case color. The combination of these materials contrasts perfectly with the large 42mm size, making these oversized watches both sporty and relaxed.
Hublot celebrates the 10th anniversary of the HUB4700 movement with a new limited edition Big Bang Spirit Ceramic Chronograph, which is visible through the skeletonized dial. This automatic skeleton movement is a modernized descendant of the historic and highly regarded El Primero movement, and is considered the first Swiss-made high-frequency integrated chronograph movement ever.
Big Bang MECA-10 42mm Next, the round MECA-10 makes a comeback after the Big Bang was discontinued. The Big Bang MECA-10 debuted at Baselworld in 2016, showcasing the new in-house movement HUB1201, with manual winding and a 10-day power reserve. In typical Hublot fashion, the movement is on full display through the skeletonized dial of the original Big Bang MECA-10, all housed in a large 45mm case.
But this is no ordinary case. The original Big Bang MECA-10 broke all the rules with its unique shape, consisting of a ring-shaped baseplate on which the bridges are mounted, providing both visual appeal and structural integrity.
Now, after nearly a decade of silence, the wait is finally over, with three new versions of the Big Bang MECA-10: one in the brand’s proprietary King Gold, one in lightweight titanium, and one in brushed carbon. Each features an optimized movement and is housed in a streamlined 42mm case. Notably, the introduction of the brushed carbon version marks another first for Hublot’s core collection.
Downsizing the complex Big Bang MECA 10 was no easy feat. It was a challenge to reduce the size while retaining all the original elements, without compromising on performance. Each version of the 42mm Big Bang MECA-10 is powered by the HUB1205, which retains the 10-day power reserve of the original movement.
The power reserve indicator is another highlight of the collection. The movement is driven by two barrels, and the energy level of the movement can be read via a digital display that shows the power reserve in terms of the remaining autonomy days. In addition, for precise time setting, the new Big Bang MECA-10 42mm is equipped with a stop-seconds device.
Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM Last but not least, we get a new tourbillon variant of the Big Bang that showcases one of Hublot’s unique materials: SAXEM.
SAXEM stands for “Sapphire Aluminum Oxide and Rare Earth Minerals” and is an alloy made from a mixture of aluminum oxide (the basic component of sapphire) and rare earth elements such as thulium, holmium and chromium.
Hublot became the first and only watch brand to use this material in 2019. The material debuted in the Big Bang MP-11 and has subsequently appeared in other models such as the Spirit of Big Bang and the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Yellow Neon SAXEM 44mm. The latest version features a bold emerald green SAXEM case with a smoked black sapphire crystal dial and a black rubber strap.
Available in limited quantities, the new Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM once again pushes the boundaries in terms of the delicate balance of material integrity and color storytelling. In fact, only an alloy like SAXEM is possible to create the emerald green, transparent material showcased in this exciting new limited edition.
While SAXEM shares many of the same properties as sapphire, such as hardness and transparency, at a molecular level, they are different. Their structures are also different, as sapphire is triangular (trihedral) while SAXEM is cubic (tetrahedral). These subtle but important differences allow SAXEM to display its rich color and sparkle like a precious gemstone.
The bright emerald green SAXEM case houses the Hublot-developed and manufactured MHUB6035 automatic tourbillon movement. The movement is visible through the open dial, finished in black tones that contrast with the SAXEM case and complement the crown.
Finally, for increased legibility, the Big Bang’s signature alternating Arabic numerals and baton markers are painted in bright green with Super-LumiNova, as are the hands.
