Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork. Roger Maris Jersey .com) - Andrew Luck threw for 370 yards with five touchdowns, leading the Indianapolis Colts to a 49-27 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. It was supposed to be a matchup of the top two picks in the 2012 NFL Draft, but only Luck, the No. 1 selection, played. And he played very well. Luck completed 19-of-27 throws, two of which went for scores of more than 70 yards. Coby Fleener hauled in TD passes of 30 and 73 yards, while Donte Moncrief had scoring receptions of 48 and 79 yards. Robert Griffin III, the second overall choice in 2012, was benched earlier this week by Redskins coach Jay Gruden after three straight losing efforts. Colt McCoy, the winning quarterback in Washingtons last two victories, threw for 392 yards with three touchdowns, but the Redskins defense could not stop Luck. The Colts (8-4) racked up 487 yards on just 49 plays, an average of 9.9 yards per play. Dan Herron added to the outburst with 88 yards on just eight carries, including a 49-yard touchdown run, as Indianapolis notched its second straight win. Washington (3-9) has lost four in a row since McCoy guided the team to an overtime win at Dallas on Oct. 27. The Redskins were productive with 425 yards of offense after mustering just 213 last week in a loss to San Francisco. The Colts turned the ball over on each of their first two possessions, but Washington managed to convert only one mistake into points. Luck fumbled on the first play from scrimmage to give Washington possession at the Indianapolis 15, but it led only to a 25-yard Kai Forbath field goal. Luck then had a pass deflected four plays into the ensuing series and Ryan Clark came down with the interception near midfield, but again the Redskins failed to move and were forced to punt. There were no mistakes on Indys third series. Luck connected on each of his four passes, including a 30-yard scoring strike to a wide open Fleener along the left sideline. The Colts extended their lead to 21-3 on consecutive possessions in second quarter, as Herron broke free for a 49-yard touchdown run and Luck found T.Y. Hilton with a 3-yard TD pass. Washington then finally put together a solid offensive series, marching 84 yards on nine plays for a score. McCoy capped it with a 21-yard TD pass to Roy Helu Jr. The Redskins got one more chance after Herron fumbled near midfield on the next series, but an incomplete pass and a sack eventually forced a punt in the final minute of the half. McCoy pulled Washington within 21-17 on the first series of the second half, throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Logan Paulsen, but the Colts answered just three plays after the kickoff when Luck hit Moncrief with a 48-yard scoring pass. The Redskins were moving again with their next possession, but McCoy was sacked again and lost the ball. DQwell Jackson recovered and raced 35 yards for a touchdown to give the Colts a 35-17 advantage. McCoy and Luck then traded long scoring passes. McCoy hit DeSean Jackson with a 42-yard touchdown and Luck answered just 27 seconds later with a 73-yarder to Fleener. Forbath kicked a 29-yard field goal three minutes into the fourth quarter to get Washington within two scores, but once again Luck had a quick response with a 79-yard TD pass to Moncrief just three plays later and Washington had no answer. In 2007, four-star dual-threat Quarterback Robert Griffin III had committed to the University of Houston under then Head Coach Art Briles. When Briles left Houston to take over Baylor, Griffin III, the top commit in Briles recruiting class, decided to follow him. After winning the Heisman in his junior season Griffin was the 2nd pick in the NFL draft. Many thought the Bears would return to the middle-of-the-pack in the Big 12 without their star QB, but all it took was one player and one very gifted head coach to turn the program around. Baylor currently sits at #5 in the BCS polls with a perfect 7-0 record, tops in their conference. They score the most points per game in the country (63.9) and have the 6th best defence (15.9). QB Bryce Petty has 18 TD and 1 INT and former Oregon Duck Lache Seastrunk has 869 yards rushing and 11 TD in 7 games. The offence is incredible, the defence can keep up and all because players are lining up to attend Baylor. 10 years ago Baylor had the 76th best recruiting class out of 117 Division I programs. Colorado State, Louisiana-Lafayette and San Jose State were among schools with better results. Now thanks to Griffin III and the recent success of the Bears program, last year Baylor ranked 31st. And this years crop is expected to be even better. Oregon is three spots higher in the polls and steals much of the attention as the must-watch team in college football but Baylor is every bit as fast and exciting. Baylor scored 8 touchdowns against Kansas last weekend, none of those drives took longer than 2 minutes. The likelihood of the Ducks and Bears meeting in a National Championship isnt very high with Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State still amongst the unbeaten, but it would be amazing if they did. The two schools are both on pace to break the record for most yards-per-game. The one knock against Baylor has been their strength of schedule, but thats about to change in a big hurry. Their remaining five games are against Big 12 teams that are either currently ranked or were ranked earlier in the season. Stan Musial Jersey. They stay home for dates with #10 Oklahoma and #15 Texas Tech before travelling to No. 18 Oklahoma State and Texas Christian. The finale on December 7th will see the Texas Longhorns come to town in a game that could decide the conference. That sentence alone has Bears fans in a place they werent sure theyd ever get, among the elite teams in a power conference. Baylor has had a swift turnaround thanks to one electric player taking the country by storm. Other notes from around the NCAA: - Many thought Penn State would gain momentum after their thrilling 4-overtime win against Michigan but that didnt prove to be the case. The Nittany Lions were handed their worst defeat in nearly 114 years when they travelled to Ohio State. The 63-14 loss wasnt as bad as the 64-5 drubbing at the hands of the Duquesne Athletic Club back in 1899. - Florida State rolled over NC State with 35 first quarter points. It broke a 4 game losing streak for FSU as a ranked team versus an unranked NC State. - Recruiting kickers is going to become a bigger deal – Missouris undefeated season was shattered when Andrew Baggett missed a 24-yarder in double-overtime to hand South Carolina a victory. - LSU holds the longest non-conference winning streak in the FBS era – 45 straight wins. Part of that comes from scheduling games like this past weekend against the Furman Paladins. - Northern Illinois remained unbeaten with a 59-20 win over Eastern Michigan. 4 different Huskies combined for 7 touchdown passes in the win. QB Jordan Lynch threw for four scores, ran for one and even had his first career TD reception. - More from the kicking game, San Diego State relied on Seamus McMorrow twice in their bid to upend undefeated Fresno State. McMorrow missed two tries, including a 37-yarder as regulation expired that would have won the game. The Aztecs fell in overtime 35-28. - Auburn is on a four-game winning streak for the first time since 2010 when they went 14-0 and won a National Championship with Cam Newton as their QB. ' ' '
